Objective of Dairy Development Department
The main objective of the department is to make farmers, farm labors and landless farmers of rural area economically self sufficient by providing them additional employment in their village itself through implementation of dairy development by organizing village level dairy cooperatives and procuring milk through them. The milk, so procured, is made available to urban consumers in the form of fresh, pure and disinfected milk and different milk products prepared from it at reasonable price.
Activities of Department
Different activities of the department can mainly be classified into 3 parts:
A. Regulatory Activities:
• Implementation of different acts and rules such as Registration of dairy cooperatives, audit, registration, inspection of engineering works are included in it.
B. Development Activities:
• Ensure increase in milk production along with dairy development in the states.
C. Commercial Activities:
• Ensure milk procurement and marketing through dairy cooperatives in India.
